I guess cycling runs in the family my dad was a keen cyclist during the 1950s . Although marriage, kids (me and my younger brother) and family life took centre stage and replaced cycling.
He bought my first proper racer in the 1970s when I was about 12. Over the next 30 years I flirted with mountain biking and also entering a few triathlons but nothing too serious.
I got serious in 2008 when I started commuting to work on an old Raleigh Equipe. It was at this point I jumped in fully - bought a new bike, proper shoes and Lycra. I completed LEJOG in 2010 and joined BRC in 2015. I am a qualified ride leader and have led Sunday club rides and welcome rides.
Along with Wayne I run the mid week time trial series during the summer . I also enjoy helping the club put on other events -setting up the course for both the town centre crits and last years cyclo cross race . It’s a great feeling to hear participants and supporters from other clubs complimenting a BRC event .
