Our Welcome Rides are aimed at cyclists who want a steady introduction to club riding. Maybe you've started to ride to work or ride at the weekend and are looking to step up and do a little more.
The rides are around 30-35 miles long, run at a leisurely pace and include a café stop.
A road bike or hybrid is recommended to ensure you get the most out of these rides and the pace will be comfortable, around 12mph.
The rides are held monthly on the last Sunday of each month between April and September (NB: the welcome ride in May will be on Sunday 20th May due to the bank holiday).
We meet at Town End Roundabout (by Costa Coffee) alongside all the regular club runs. Experienced club riders and our trained Ride Leaders will be on hand to show you the ropes and keep you company.
We've run the Welcome Rides for the last two summers and it’s been really good to see people come to a ride for the first time and then progress become regular club riders, often going on to ride the evening 10s, sportives and other events.
Please come along and give it a go. You just need a road bike or hybrid bike, along with water, appropriate clothing for the weather and a spare innertube (in case of puncture) as well as a few quid for the cafe stop.
