Early start this morning from our interesting music studio air BnB. We briefly stopped at McDonalds for a hearty breakfast. It was here where Paul Winstanley met us for the first time as our paths crossed Heidleberg . However his son Miles was still sleeping so they would set off later in the day to meet us in SG.
We set off with our new friends klaus, Gerhard and Dietmar 'the Diesel'as a new group, we ventured to the old town for a photograph on the bridge meeting Mattieus and Andre.
Following the Vogel river we sped off, the Diesel turned out to be a turbo diesel. Riding through beautiful country and various villages and towns we saw the french Concorde and Tupolew Tu-144 at the technic museum in Sinsheim. As we journey out from Sinsheim we are diverted off the excellent quiet roads and paths onto the main road. The cause? Das Boot a WW2 u boat being transported along the quiet roads to the museum. It was an amazing moment and Chapeau to Klaus who had organised the route to see it!
We stopped at a Golf Club and we're welcomed. After a drink and good food we set off for the last 40 miles to SG.
Unfortunately Klaus crashed off his road bike as he rode next to Connor. This caused the rider behind which was Josh, to follow and come off as well. Josh and Klause received treatement for road rash to elbows. Both were well enough to carry on.
We met with Mattieus' wife, Dorothy and Andres' wife, Fanny and 4 months old baby, Eloise who followed in a trailer. This group rode the last 10km into Schwabish which wasn't without it's drama....
Bang, chain off, back on, and again, back on, back off again. Problems worsened.
Steve's chain wouldn't stay. This was repeatedly fixed every few hundred meters but eventually Dorothy offered to loan her Cervelo Aspero to a desperate Mr Cannon. Overwhelmingly this meant that we could ride into the town, and we took the lead.
We were greeted by locals With cheers, cameras and welcoming faces. We chatted and gave an interview to the local press before walking up through the town to a panoramic bier garten - a perfect end to the most eventful day of the trip.
