A windy Sunday morning.

12th June, B.D.C.A event, 6am, 25 mile time trial on the A25/11.

The course on the A50 - Derbyshire/Staffordshire border rises steadily from the start near Etwall to the turn near Uttoxeter into a rather strong westerly wind.

Phil Tyas clocked 56mins 10secs for 21st place at an average speed of 26.7mph.

The winner, Richard Bideau, Pendle Forest CC, 50m 12s (ave 29.9mph)

B.D.C.A. - if my memory is correct is the Burton & District Cycling Association.

6am starts were the `norme` in days gone by, looks like they are having to make a return because of rising traffic numbers on faster courses.

This event had only 64 entries out of a possible 120 or 150, while on Saturday afternoon a 10 mile event near Doncaster had only 18 entries. Looks like some worries about falling entry numbers are justifiable.
